Plastic and paper wallets are the most inexpensive form of CD packaging available. They are ideal for protecting CDs from dust and scratches and may also hold thin booklets. Most wallets are clear and have a flap of about 25mm to secure the disc. Plastic wallets are available in many variations. Wallets with adhesive flaps and backs, perfect for attaching to magazine covers and presentation material, are very popular. Wallets with ring binder holes for filing are also readily available. The thickness of the plastic wallet can range from 80 microns to 175 microns and may have stitched edging for extra durability.

The most common paper wallet has a 100mm clear acetate window through which the CD label is clearly visible and 25mm flap. A number of colours are available such as red, orange, black and blue but the most common is the plain white. All paper wallets are available with or without gummed flaps. A thicker, plain cardboard wallet without a window or flap is another option for low cost storage and distribution of your CDs. The cardboard wallet may also be printed.
