HOME : INFO CENTER : Inkjet print or screen print?

If you need 300 CD-Rs printed in three days, do you choose an inkjet print or a silk screen print?

For short run jobs, a screen print should only be used if you require precise colour matching, need a Pantone colour or if your artwork includes large blocks of single colour. Inkjet prints may not always produce a precise colour match to your artwork. However, it is the most cost effective printing method because there are no setup charges or film and screen charges as with a screen print. If your onbody CD artwork uses shades, tints or intricate graphics, choose an inkjet print. The screen printing process can cause images to look slightly grainy which gives average results on tinted and shaded areas. An inkjet print can handle this easily. If you need the CD-Rs tomorrow, choose a inkjet print. Because of the ease of setup for an inkjet job, we can turn your CDs around very quickly (might be subject to express charge). A screen print job requires the production of films and screens which will add to your turnaround time.

If you are uncertain about the quality of an inkjet print and would automatically select a screen print, let us know. Many clients think of a cheap looking paper label when we mention an inkjet print. This is not the case at all. An inkjet print can look far superior to a screen print especially if photographic images are in the onbody artwork. We would be happy to supply samples of our recent work or a proof of your own artwork to ease your mind.
