Piracy is a major concern for many companies in the software, gaming and music industry. Hardly a week goes without a news story about some hackers being prosecuted or file sharing servers confiscated. To give you peace of mind, we offer several types of copy protection.
The SecuRom copy protection is suitable for CDROMs and DVDROMs. During the glass mastering process, a digital keycode is added to the master. After the copies are made, this code is checked when the application is launched and will only allow the executable file to run if the code is verified. This means the original CD must be in the drive. In addition, you can control the number of times the original CD is verified. For example, a gaming company might want checks every time the game is played. Or a software company might only want the original disc checked every two weeks. You can also implement limited functionality by defining the number of times the program may launch or setting the end date on the disc. This is particularly useful for software demos. We can also provide Macrovision's Safedisc copy protection and Key2audio protection for CD Audio.
CSS, the Content Scramble System, the copy protection system for DVDs works by scrambling the audio and video in a DVD video. The premaster must be prepared for CSS copy protection at the authoring stage. CSS is best used in combination with other copy control solutions such as Arccos.
