CD Inlays

HOME : INFO CENTER : CD INLAYS

CD inlays may be litho printed or digitally printed. The process we use depends on the quantity of your order. For all orders over 300, we will litho-print the inlays. All orders below 300 are digitally printed. We will not produce inlay orders below 100 or without an accompanying CD or DVD order. We also do not produce more than a four page booklet for orders below 300 units.

The CD inlays used in CD jewel cases take several forms. A standard jewel case can hold a front booklet and a back traycard. The front booklet is printed on 170 gsm gloss paper using spot colours or CMYK process. Heavier paper, matt paper and silk paper may also be used. A stapled 24 page booklet is usually the thickest that can be accommodated. If 130gsm paper is used for the inner pages, a slightly larger booklet might fit. Rollfold and posterfold booklets are another option for the booklet formation. Please note that a panel or "side" is concerned a page. Therefore, if you fold a sheet of paper in half, this would be a four page booklet. A 4/4 booklet means that 4 colour process is used on both sides of the pages, 4/1 means 4 colour process on one side and black text on the other side, 4/0 means printed 4 colour process on one side and nothing on the other side. Most traycards are printed 4/0.

The back traycard has a standard formation of a 151mm wide card with two spines. The card can be printed on both sides if a jewel case with a clear tray is used. A maxi single case uses a different type of inlay called a J-card. This card has a very thin spine and a lip for insertion into the case.
